Sorry for the delay in this post but sometimes life takes over and we all get a bit wrapped up in our everyday comings and goings (but in my defence there has been a lot going on in my little life).
My routine has got into a pattern of one of the following:
1)work, gym, cornet practice or
2)work, gym and band.
Not much time left for anything else really!
Firstly I have to mention my band's (Brisbane Excelsior) win at the Australian National Band Championships in Ivanhoe, Victoria over Easter. This win was really special as it was 'the hatrick' (wins
in 05, 06 & 07) and something that has only been achieved a small number of times in Australian Nationals history and not since the 90's.
We won with a 5 point margin over the runners up, Kew Band, but they did push us all the way, well done guys.
The highlight for me was not necessarily winning but the experience of being on stage and feeling completly relaxed in the performance and feeling confident in not only myself but with everyone else around the stand. Winning was just an added bonus.
Since I started to make some important changes to my life and lifestyle I have noticed that my confidence has grown in so many ways, not just in performance. When I wake in the morning I feel I have purpose and know what im doing, and being happier, physically, has liberated me in ways in never knew possible.
And for the first time in my life, I truly believe I can stand on my own two feet.
I'm nearly half way to my weight loss target now (93KG down from 110KG with a goal of 70KG) and the next exercise
goal is a 10KM run to take place on 1st July on the Gold Coast, QLD.
Don't know how much I will be able to actually run but I'm sure gonna give it a shot.
Emerging from the cocoon of fat and depression I have found that, and this is going to sound pathetic, that I have a lot more love and compassion for others and a thirst to be a really good friend. Also with this comes a new found spirituality. Life altering times for buglegirl.
Something really exciting happened to me the other night (and no its not rude : ) ). I was invited to join Facebook by
a friend and promptly signed up and invited my address book to join me. I noticed that an old friend of mine, someone whom I hadn't spoken to for years, had joined up. I promptly sent them a message and spent the next few hours having a really good chat through msn. It was brilliant, and so good to catch up with her.
God, I love the internet
